WINTER SHOWCASE:  200 PA Members attended the Winter Showcase at the Marliffe Hotel on 23rd November.  Feedback from both exhibitors and PA Members has been truly outstanding, and business was secured on the night itself for many of the suppliers... plus fun was had by all!  Have a look at our photo album on www.facebook.com/AberdeenPA ..

WINGS TRAVEL MANAGEMENT:  "MORE than 100 clients, associates and guests enjoyed a drinks reception at Wings Travel Management’s new Union Street office in Aberdeen to celebrate the company’s continued growth. Wings, established in 1988, has a global network of offices in Aberdeen, London, Houston, Dubai, Singapore and South Africa and specialises in energysector corporate travel. Guests for the evening flew in from as far afield as South Africa, Houston and London for the event. There was also an exhibition from Lufthansa promoting the launch of their new Frankfurt service.  David Pity, head of client management, hosted the event and addressed the guests." ABERDEEN PA TO EXHIBIT AT GRANITE EXPO

Aberdeen PA will be exhibiting alongside over 100 other exhibitor at Granite Expo on 27th October.  This exhibition is a celebration of SME's across the North East of Scotland, and fellow Aberdeen PA Business Members exhibition include The Gleneagles Hotel, Harrods Corporate Service and Eastern Airways.  As well as the exhibition, there is a business breakfast, lunch and also a networking cafe.

PA's TAKE ON "THE QUBE" CHALLENGE WITH THISTLE HOTELS & TEAM CHALLENGE COMPANY

PA Members were invited to Thistle Aberdeen Airport to try Team Challenge's "The Qube".  Based on the popular TV programme hosted by Philip Scofield, guests enjoyed delicious drinks and smoothies, canapes and a variety of challenges in the refurbished Ballroom at the hotel.  Thanks to the great Irish "craic" of the Team Challenge staff, and the excellent food and service provided by Thistle Hotels, guests could experience this great team activity on behalf of their Companies.  Many already use the Thistle venues and Team Challenge as an activity provider, so this was also a a perfect way to thank existing clients too!

PA's ATTEND THE STORE'S "HAMPER HEAVEN" EVENT AT THE MARCLIFFE

The Store at Foveran and Frasermedia held a successful night to promote The Store's wide range of food hampers and Christmas produce.  PA's Members enjoyed pink fizz and canapes, as well as samples of The Store's turkey & cranberry, haggis sausages and home-reared Aberdeen Angus beef on the night.  Mini-hampers were given to the first 50 RSVP's, and vouchers for complimentary coffee and cake in the coffee shop were given to all.

WINTER SHOWCASE DATE ANNOUNCED

Following the success of the Spring Showcase when Business Bembers exhibited to PA Members, the date for the Winter Showcase has been announced.  Wednesday 23rd November, 5-8pm at The Marcliffe will see a vast array of exciting exhibitors from all over Scotland exhibit - and the event is already fully booked with exhibitors.  Over 200 PA Members are expect to attend.

NATIONAL PA DAY - Wednesday 20th April:

Wednesday is national "PA Day" – a date Thorpe Molloy Recruitment are keen to promote with Aberdeen PA.  Aberdeen PA will dedicate an area of the website to post pictures of bosses marking the day by making the tea!

“We want it to be a fun day with lots of great pictures,” Rosemary said. “We’re suggesting bosses make the tea but they can go in for much grander gestures to show how much they value their PA and the work he or she does throughout the year. They are amazing people and are so often taken for granted.

“Aberdeen PA will be offering a prize for the best picture submitted on the day.”

"More than 200 personal assistants (PAs) from the Aberdeen area are expected to attend an exhibition dedicated to them and their work needs next week.  The event has been organised by Rosemary McLennan, founder of Aberdeen PA, a network for assistants which carries listings and news for personal assistants, as well as an online forum for discussion.

Among more than 50 exhibitors at the Spring Showcase at Ardoe on Wednesday will be recruitment, cleaning and travel companies, PR and legal firms, office suppliers and catering providers, as well as hotels, airlines and conference centres.

McLennan, who set up her business in September, said the event would be an extension of the website, offering access to information and offers on venues, services and products.  "I'm hoping everyone will come along, do lots of networking and make lots of contacts," she said.  "I'm hoping this will be the first of a series of showcases."

"Iain Walker-Welsh is one of a kind.  He’s the only male who has signed up as a member of Aberdeen PA, an on-line resource which puts PAs, key bookers and businesses in touch with each other in this area. He wasn’t particularly surprised to find himself in a virtual world along with some 400 women.

“More men are becoming PAs generally but I’m still a bit of a novelty in Aberdeen,” he said. “Quite a lot of celebrities are taking on male PAs but that’s not something I’m aspiring to.”

Iain is the public face of behavioural safety coaching company Optimus Seventh Generation in Westhill as he is the first person visitors to the building meet.

“But don’t call me a receptionist,” he said. “My official title is office administrator but my job description is still a work in progress because every day is different and my role is still developing.”
